Here is a little collection of answers to some questions. If there is anything left uncovered please go to my contact page. I'm happy for you to contact me with your questions, suggestions, and requests.
- What kind of design school did you go to?
- I have a diploma in Digital Media Design covering illustration, website design and development, design layout and motion graphics. The Centre for Arts and Technology in Kelowna, BC is an industry school aimed at not only teaching technical excellence, but also at training young professionals to be entrepreneurs and leaders.
- What kind of leadership programs have you taken?
- I have taken five sessions of Personal and Professional Development Training and three sessions on Job Skills. We covered areas such as personality colours, learning styles, acceptance, leadership, teamwork, and corporate culture.
- Have you ever taught a leadership program?
- I would love to be a motivational speaker or a Professional Development leader. I enjoy motivating people and I love public speaking. Years ago I taught a workshop at a leadership camp on puppetry and story telling. I also ran a kid's art camp with fashion designer Kim Nelson, aka KDON. At the end of the week we put on an art show event for the young artists.
- Do you have any design experience?
- I own an art business which I have run for over seven years. I own my own commercial printer and in my business I have had experience with printing, packaging and marketing. I have also been commissioned to do illustrations for companies such as Peaks Media, Great-Canadian Heli-skiing, Okanagan Wine Festivals and Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association, OK Chalets, and Golder & Associates.
- What kind of art business do you have?
- I paint watercolour and acrylic paintings and sell them in galleries. I also produce my own art cards and archival reproductions. I teach watercolour workshops and give private lessons too. To find out more about my paintngs, please visit www.kendraart.com
- If you are an artist, what made you decide to take a technical diploma?
- When I was young, Math was my favourite subject at school. Even though I am creative and love painting, I have always had a passion for languages and codes. I am a natural problem solver and I excel at analytical reasoning. It is my artistic side meshed with my technical abilities that makes me the perfect candidate for graphic design. My combination of creativity and business savvy results in a professional design business ready to help you from every angle.
- Why Kelowna?
- My 94 year old Grandma lives in Kelowna and I wanted to be able to hang out with her. Believe it or not, she is the one who cooks for me! It is special to have this time with her.
- What are your goals?
- My main goal is to enjoy life and to be passionate about what I do. I am excited about pursuing a career blended with art and design. I feel so lucky to be leading a creative life. I hope to pass on my inspiration to others through mediums such as teaching, speaking, writing and creating.
- Why don't you show your email address in more places on your website?
- I'm not hiding it from you, I'm just hiding it from web spam spiders. They are crawlies that look through websites specifically to eat up email addresses and spit them back out as spam. I welcome emails from you, but I have to hide it from plain sight so that it's safe from the crawlers. I can tell you a little trick though if you don't use an email editor and you hate it when one opens on you... As long as you have java script enabled, when you hover your mouse over the email link without clicking, you can read my email in the lower left corner of your browser! If that doesn't work, then go to my contact page and you will see an image of my email address. Luckily web crawlers can only read text, not images.
- My question isn't on here. How can I find out more?
- It's easy.
Just go to my contact page to send me an email. I'd love to hear from you and I'll be happy to answer any questions.
Thanks!
